GangBox is an internal application for employees of Eutaw Construction Company. It gathers several small office tools into one app: the break-room stock walk, the lunch run, the staff football pool, and the shirt-order survey. It is not offered to the general public.
What we collect
Everyone
- Your work account. The username and PIN you sign in with, and your display name, so the app knows who did what.
- Your device sign-in token. Held in the iOS Keychain so you are not asked for your PIN every time. Removed when you sign out.
- Notification registration. If you allow notifications, the app registers a device token with Apple so we can tell you a lunch run has opened or a survey has closed.
Stock walk
- The item, the status you chose (OK, LOW or OUT), and when you chose it.
- The name of any item or one-off request you add while walking.
Lunch run
- Your vote on where to eat, and your order and any note with it.
- Restaurants somebody adds, including the address and details returned by the lookup.
Football pool
- Your weekly picks, your margin guess, and the points they earn.
- Your name and score on the standings, visible to everyone in the pool.
Shirt survey
- The styles you pick, your size, and any note you add.
- Your name, size and styles appear on the order sheet sent to whoever places the order, and to the supplier filling it.
- If you run a survey, the photographs you choose from your photo library for each style. The app receives only the images you pick and cannot see the rest of your library. Photos are re-encoded on our server, which removes embedded location and camera data before storing them.
What we do not collect
- Location. The app does not use location services and never asks for them.
- Camera or microphone. The app does not use either.
- Contacts, calendars, health or fitness data.
- Advertising identifiers, or any identifier used to track you across other apps or websites.
- Analytics or crash-reporting telemetry. The app contains no analytics or third-party SDKs.
- Face ID or Touch ID data. If you turn on biometric unlock, iOS performs the match itself and tells the app only whether it succeeded. Your biometric data never reaches the app or our servers.
- Pay, wage or compensation data of any kind.
Who else sees anything
GangBox uses three outside services. None of them is sent your name, your account, or anything you entered.
- Apple Push Notification service, to deliver notifications. Apple receives the device token and the notification text, which says what happened, not who did it.
- Google Places, to look up a restaurant when somebody adds one. The call is made by our server, not your phone. Google receives the restaurant name being searched for. It does not receive your identity or your device address, and our API key never leaves the server.
- ESPN, for the public college football schedule and scores. Our server reads published fixtures on a timer. Nothing is sent to ESPN.
The order sheet for a shirt survey is emailed to whoever runs the order, and is intended to be passed to the supplier filling it. It lists names, styles, colours and sizes, because that is what an order needs.
How it is stored
Answers you record while out of signal are held on your device until they can be sent, then kept on Eutaw Construction's own servers. The supply closet and parts of the yard have no signal, which is why the app works without one. Your sign-in token is stored in the iOS Keychain and is removed when you sign out. Traffic between the app and our servers uses HTTPS.
How it is used
Only to run the tools themselves — to produce the order list, place the lunch order, score the pool and fill the shirt order — and to show who recorded a given entry. It is not used for performance monitoring or discipline, is not sold, and there is no advertising in GangBox.
How long it is kept
Stock walks, lunch runs, pool results and shirt orders are retained as ordinary business records. Your local queue is cleared as soon as its answers reach the server, and signing out removes your credentials from the device.
Your choices
- Notifications can be turned off at any time in iOS Settings, or by not allowing them when asked. The app works without them.
- Biometric unlock is optional and can be turned off in the app.
- Answering is optional. You can say you are not having a shirt, skip a lunch vote, or not enter picks.
- Access to GangBox comes with your Eutaw Construction account and ends when that account does.
- To ask what has been recorded under your name, to have something corrected, or to have your account closed, contact the IT department at the address below.
